The Solo Artist

It's been a journey to say the least, and true for most of us! But in the world of music, there seems to be tremendous extremes: the exaltation of mastering your art form, the camaraderie of playing with other great musicians, the satisfaction of performing a great show, to the other end of the spectrum, the creative dry spells, the reality of paying the bills, the 'band drama'. I've been through it all, the good, the bad, and the truly awful. And so, for the first time in my career, I have developed a solo show, much of it is simply voice and guitar, but I'm also utilizing technology to set up beautiful beds of lush sound to play my oboe over, or to create dreamscapes of vocalese. This freedom to determine my own creative direction is both terrifying and exhilarating. I no longer can simply glide into rehearsal with a band doing two thirds of the work, now it all begins and ends with me. So I am hoping to have a community of friends and fans who I can share my journey with as I write the occasional blog, sharing stories of travel and performance, as well as my life here in rural Ireland.

All the very best wishes!
